Champs is approaching!

Barracudas families — the St. Johns Summer Swim League Championship Meet (“Champs”) is the final meet of the summer season and brings together swimmers from all 11 SJSSL teams for a weekend of competition and celebration. For many swimmers it is the highlight of the season — a chance to race swimmers from across the league, cheer on teammates, and celebrate the progress they’ve made all summer.

One common misconception is that swimmers must achieve special qualifying times to attend Champs. That is not the case. Champs is the culminating event of the summer and is open to swimmers who meet the league’s participation requirements.

The Championship Details box above has the dates, location, and session schedule. Below is everything else you need to know — eligibility and the official Champs t-shirt pre-order.

Champs Eligibility & Event Qualification

There are no qualifying times required to participate in Champs.

To be eligible for Champs, swimmers must:

Participate in at least three regular-season meets. League rules allow mock meets, time trials, dual meets, tri-meets, and weather-cancelled meets (if the swimmer was entered and seeded) to count toward this requirement.

Establish a legal seed time in each event they wish to swim — by having participated in those events during the regular season.

A few important notes

A swimmer must have a legal recorded time in an event to be entered in that event at Champs.

Disqualifications (DQs) do not count as seed times.

Swimmers with a “No Time” (NT) in an event cannot be entered in that event at Champs.

The remaining regular-season meets are an important opportunity for swimmers to gain experience, establish legal times, and prepare for the championship meet.

More information regarding Champs entries, volunteer opportunities, parking, and event logistics will be shared in the coming weeks.

We look forward to celebrating the season and cheering on all of our Barracudas at Champs!

Go Barracudas!
